Waterloo to chyba najsławniejsza bitwa z okresu wojen Napoleońskich. Do dziś rozpala emocje, czy Napoleon mógł wygrać? A co by było gdyby Grouchy wrócił, lub gdyby I Korpus pod Wavre zamknął drogę odwrotu Prusakom? Na pewno bitwa ta jest najbardziej popularna w Anglii i Angielscy gracze grają częściej właśnie tą, ostatnią kampanię wojen Napoleońskich. I nic dziwnego, przecież była to bitwa wygrana przez Anglików i ich sojuszników, dlatego łatwiej jest skusić potencjalnego gracza z wysp na zakup.

Certainly this battle is the most popular in England and the English aides play this last issue of the Napoleonic Wars. Należy podkreślić, że wyżej wymienione figurki (piechoty) nie mają kompanii dowódczych, kawaleria też nie posiada dowódcy. Wobec czego po złożeniu wygląda to trochę ubogo. Można bataliony zrobić bez figurek dowódców, lub dokupić zestawy dedykowane od Warlord Games (tj. Francuską piechotę liniową lub lekką, brytyjską lub hanowerską piechotę) i powiększyć je o figurki ze startera lub zakupić pojedyncze, brakujące figurki od jakiegoś innego producenta.
I tutaj też dużo zależy od tego czy robimy figurki typowo pod system Black Powder, czy może figurki składamy uniwersalnie także pod inne systemy. Należy pamiętać, że w Black Powder nie ma znaczenia ilość figurek a długość frontu jednostki. To znaczy, że można wyjść poza schemat 24 figurek na batalion i dalej będzie można spokojnie grać w Black Powder.
W tym systemie Artyleria jest przedstawiana przez jeden (półbateria) lub dwa modele (bateria).

Jeśli chodzi o wykonanie figurek to są one łatwe w budowie tj. składają się z 3 bardzo dobrze pasujących do siebie części (piechota). Konie dla kawalerii to 2 części, dodatkowo kawalerzyści podobnie jak piechota to 3 części. Łatwo się je wycina i prawie w ogóle nie posiadają nadlewek. Jak zawsze podkreślę, że ubolewam nad tym, że francuska piechota jest w płaszczach. Ma to swój jeden zasadniczy plus - maluje się je szybciej, i jeden zasadniczy minus - wyglądają ubogo obok piechoty brytyjskiej i hanowerskiej które są bez płaszczy.
Artyleria jest łatwa w montażu i raczej dość trudna do uszkodzenia dzięki dużym częściom i łatwemu montażowi.

Niewątpliwie dużą zaletą jest to, że w pudełku dostajemy książkę zasad. Jest w miękkiej oprawie, rozmiaru A5. Duża księga zasad w twardej oprawie kosztuje 1/3 całego zestawu startowego!

Dlatego starter ten można polecić na początek, ale żeby wycisnąć trochę więcej, polecam zestaw rozszerzyć przez dodatkowe zakupy i wtedy cieszyć się ładniej skomponowanymi jednostkami - z dowództwem, doboszami, flagami itp. Można np. złożyć się z kimś na starter i wybrać z niego interesującą nas nację.

Warlord Games Set: "Waterloo - Black Powder 2nd edition Starter Set". The name "Waterloo" refers to the fact that all units from this set can be built for this particular battle. It should be emphasized that the above-mentioned figures (infantry) do not have command companies, and the cavalry also does not have a commander. So when folded it looks a bit flimsy. You can make battalions without commander figures, or buy sets dedicated to Warlord Games (i.e. French line infantry or light infantry, British or Hanoverian infantry) and enlarge them with figures from the starter pack, or buy single, missing figures from some other manufacturer.
And here a lot depends on whether we make figurines typically for the Black Powder system, or maybe we assemble figurines universally also for other systems. Please note that in Black Powder the number of figures does not matter and the length of the unit's front. This means that you can go beyond the 24 figures per battalion and still be able to play Black Powder.
In this system, Artillery is represented by one (half-battery) or two (battery) models.

When it comes to making the figures, they are easy to build, i.e. they consist of 3 parts that fit together very well (infantry). Horses for cavalry are 2 parts, additionally cavalrymen, like infantry, are 3 parts. They are easy to cut and have almost no sprues. As always, I will emphasize that I regret that the French infantry are in overcoats. It has one major plus - they are painted faster, and one major minus - they look poor next to the British and Hanoverian infantry which are without coats.
Artillery is easy to assemble and rather difficult to damage due to large parts and easy assembly.

Undoubtedly, the big advantage is that we get a book of rules in the box. It is in soft cover, size A5. A large hardcover rule book costs 1/3 of the entire starter kit!

That's why this starter can be recommended at the beginning, but to squeeze a little more, I recommend expanding the set by additional purchases and then enjoy more nicely composed units - with command, drummers, flags, etc. You can, for example, make a starter with someone and choose an interesting us nation.
